Pours deep amber, almost brown, with little to no head despite a pretty robust pour. Smells of malt apparent from the get go. Maple, sassafras and toast aromas with a hint of floral hops, perhaps a tad oakey. Medium mouth feel – perfect for a lager. Very interesting flavor profile. Almost a root beer flavor to it. Single notes without much depth or complexity, even in the finish. Tastes a tad like cough syrup. What it comes down to is too much alcohol (8.2%) to really enjoy the bock flavors. Overall, not impressed.
