Bitter Creek Brewing Company
604 Broadway St
Rock Springs, Wyoming

Apparently I somehow neglected to put a review up for just one of my 250 thus-far-visited brewpubs. And it just so happens to be one of the first ones I ever went to. On the last evening of my drive out to the Bay Area of California, my Dad and I stopped in at Bitter Creek in Rock Springs, Wyoming. To this point, I remember very little. Actually – more like nothing. I think there might have been a decent Scottish ale and decent burgers. Let’s see what I had to say six years ago.
Your typical hometown microbrewery featuring fermentation rigs, a long bar, several seats, and a couple of plasma screen televisions. However, this one is truly located out in the middle of nowhere… Rock Springs, Wyoming. This establishment is a testament to the growing craft beer movement in the country.
Both my Dad and I ordered a burger and fries. The burger list is extensive with plenty to choose from, but at the end of the day, its nothing that you can’t get from just about anywhere else.
This fairly average brewery does boast one advantage—amazing Scottish ale. This beer blew me away, and would have to go on my top 10 list of all-time*. It, in itself, is worth a stop, but only if you’re passing through. Don’t go out of your way for it.
*Note that I wrote this after like 30 brewpubs visited.
