The second brewpub we visited on our brief Nashville brewpub crawl was Jackalope Brewing Company, conveniently located just a few minutes’ walk from our first stop at Yazoo. I wasn’t expecting much, but the place turned out to be quite solid.
First and foremost, I love the logo. The design is brilliant, and the decorations throughout the pub are delightfully odd, playing off the jackalope theme. Some of the pieces I wanted to take home. A taxidermied rabbit with antlers sticking out of its head? Yes please. The tables were cozy, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the coffee shop next door shared space, grub and libations.
The beer was also solid. They had five beers on tap when I visited, and we took a sampler of four, ignoring the fruited wheat beer seasonal selection for obvious reasons. While none of the offerings were all that unique – a pale, red rye, maple brown and IPA – they were all very well crafted and quite tasty.
Together with the decorations, the vibe and the friendly bartenders, this is a must-stop while in Nashville.
