About Me

Obviously, as you might be able to tell, I love beer. I discovered this on a trip to Cincinnati where I sat down at a Rock Bottom to enjoy a sampler of their brews. At the time, I was a novice drinker just past 21 who knew nothing of the craft industry. Thus, even Rock Bottom’s sometimes lackluster offerings were enough to hook me immediately.

Since that time, I’ve dedicated my travels to exploring good beer. I’ve lived in five states and managed to hit most every brewpub in the area at each. Plus, every time I travel somewhere – whether for pleasure or business – I always make it to the local brewery. Such is how I’ve managed to hit roughly 230 brewpubs in the past seven years.

When I’m not drinking, I’m exercising to burn off the beer calories, enjoying the great outdoors, reading a good book, playing a bit of guitar, crafting posts for my other blog (Big Ten Science, if you like cool science, you should check it out), or working.

Okay, so I might be watching The Walking Dead or True Blood too. Sue me.

    Hi Ken,

We received a request from Urbanspoon user “Ken Kingery” claiming that they are the author of Fifty States of Brew. It sounds like you, but I’m writing to verify that this is the case and that you want to allow Ken Kingery to manage your blog on Urbanspoon.

You can visit the Urbanspoon page for Fifty States of Brew here:

Please reply via email and let me know whether or not we should approve this claim.

    Hi Ken,

I’ve added a new feature so you can publish your blog posts on Urbanspoon yourself! Next time you post a review, give it a try. Here’s how:

    – Make sure you’re signed into Urbanspoon.
    – Go to your Urbanspoon blog page (not your user profile): http://www.urbanspoon.com/br/314/12018/Virginia/Fifty-States-of-Brew.html
    – Click “Edit blog settings”.
    – In the Pending Posts section, click “Edit and publish my pending posts”.
    – Then, enter the “snippet” text, verify the date and URL, and press Publish.

    Please make sure that:
    – The URL should be the permalink to the blog post (not the blog home page, a post preview, or a service like feedproxy).
    – The snippet should be 2-3 sentences (quoted from your blog post) that gives an idea of what’s in the post.
    – The snippet should NOT include bylines, dates, address info, captions, tags, HTML code, etc.

Note: there may be a delay of 1-2 hours after you post on your blog until our system detects the post.

We’ll give you one week to do it yourself, then it’ll go into our queue to publish.

Thank you for all of your contributions, and let us know if you have any questions.

can u please help me?! thanks!

    • No problem, I’ve taken it down. I’m sure I found it somewhere on the internet while searching for interior pictures of Mad Anthony’s, so that photo probably also lives elsewhere on the internet, if you want to track other uses down for removal.
